Desert Lodge

Desert Lodge sits on a dune plateau in the NamibRand Nature Reserve, with views over orange sand and rocky mountains in every direction. Natural furnishings, layered textures and handcrafted details run throughout, all guided by one simple idea: Of the Earth.

Built from timber and canvas, the lodge has the feel of a tented camp with the comfort and protection of a permanent building. Its six Tented Rooms and three Family Rooms all face out over the desert. Each has a private verandah, an en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, a minibar, Wi-Fi and its own Wolwedans Chiller, a small water-filled silo for cooling off in the hotter months. Leave the canvas blinds open at night and it is just like sleeping under the stars.

The main areas unfold across a series of decks above the sand, with two lounges, a bar for sundowners, several places to dine and a fire pit overlooking the dunes. Children aged five and older are welcome. A minimum stay of two nights applies, though three nights allow time to settle properly into the Wolwedans Way.
